To lend means to contribute willingly and helpfully by giving one's aid to a cause. Jesus was the ultimate servant by willingly helping us in the great cause of redemption. Since Jesus served us, His desire for us is to serve God by serving others. Jesus said,
"If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: If any man serve me, him will my Father honour". (John 12:26)
